The Royal Australian Infantry Corps Museum

Established in 1911, at the then School of Musketry, Randwick NSW, the Royal Australian Infantry Corps Museum has undergone many changes over its 97 years. Now located within the School of Infantry, Singleton NSW, the museum tells the story of the Infantry Soldier from colonial days through to current operations.

Throughout the galleries and exhibitions the profile of the Australian Infantry Soldier is displayed with actual weapons, uniforms, equipment, maps, medals, pictures, stories, personal letters and videos, as used during these operations. The weapon displays covers weapons as used by colonial soldiers in the 1800s, weapons as used during the ANZAC campaign, machine guns and a collection of pistols and sniper weapons.

Other significant exhibitions include a historical display of the Royal New South Wales Regiment and the Royal Australian Regiment. Throughout these exhibitions visitors can view original campaign medals dating back to Australia’s first operation in 1885, the Sudan campaign, trench maps from the battle of Poziers 1916, secret withdrawal order for the withdrawal of Greece 1941, the Queen and Regimental Colours of the 3rd Battalion the Werriwa Regiment, along with other regimental accoutrements.

Special Exhibition - Korean War Honour Roll Quilt The quilt illustrates the landscape of Kapyong where 340 Australian servicemen lost their lives on the battlefields of Korea between 1950 and 1953. Also depicted on the quilt is the musical score of the Last Post and the names of the 340 servicemen who gave their lives during this operation. This quilt is a fitting memorial to those men.

Peace Keeping - Peace Making. Exhibition from Solmalia, Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan, including Saddam Hussein's gold sniper weapon, a palace gold tap and much more.
